How to keep it blond?

I need a hair-do. I need more highlights, badly. It has been two months, again (sigh).

I would LOVE to have a very, a really blond hair, but unfortunately it doest suit me. I have ash-blond highlights which I keep bright by using silver shampoo once a week. Or at least try to. A dry shampoo is a bad hair days savior, but it also suits a blond hair making the roots a bit lighter as well. The best thing about a dry shampoo is that it makes hair look thicker (see here)!

Here are few photos of my hair at its best (?). ;)

Nails, home made

I have been doing my own french manicure for a while now and absolutely love it! =) My nails are pretty strong now, so keeping them long is not a problem, like it was for a while. I had weak nails for a few years but I have no idea what changed and why they are back to normal: healthy and strong again..? Anyways, love to have these nails again!

Live a happy life!

Life is what you make of it. For example: when life gives you lemons, make lemonade or a gin and tonic, which ever comes in need. ;)  Also the formula of happiness is quite simple as well: just change the things you are not happy with. And changing them may seem impossible...until it is done. ;)

Here are some cute and inspirational notes to cheer your day. =) Have a happy weekend!!

A muddy morning

Hello friends,

A few days ago I went to Lush to buy a body cream. I also bought a facial peel AND a face mask called Cupcake, because I couldn't resist them. The cupcake mask is FRESH and made of dark chocolate and mint. Do I need to say more?? I put it on this morning and our dog went nuts to say the least. The mask smells so wonderful that she wanted to lick it so bad I had to say NO more than 10 times during those 5 minutes I had it on. ;)

I see stars!

The star print was playing a huge role on a catwalk last spring when the fashion fall 2011 collections were on showed. Especially Dolce&Gabbana loved the star-print this year. It looks like Zara is a quick cat when it comes to mmm..  copying the trends from the catwalks of the more exclusive brands. I bought this star t-shirt from Zara in April. See the fashion report I wrote (in Finnish) about the star-prints here. :)

T-shirt from Zara, jewellery from Morocco and Australia, old pants from ?, Ballerinas Pretty Ballerinas ;)

Aren't they pretty?

I just bought my first Pretty Ballerinas! The color and style are classic, so can't go wrong with them, right? They were 70% off and costed ridiculously 55 euros (original price 185 e)! =) Happy!

Where do children sleep?

I saw this amazing post called Where children sleep on Facebook and it brought back some memories of my trip to Cambodia five years ago.

After a boat-ride from Phonm Penh I had just arrived to the ferry dock at Chong Khneas 12 km south of Siem Reap when I saw a tiny hut with the walls made of reeds. The hut belonged to a barber's family, to her parents to be exact. The barber was a 11 years old girl. She worked in front of the house while her family was working somewhere else. The whole family slept in the only room in the hut, which is not bigger than an average bedroom. They did not have a proper door, beds nor much anything else. Yet they survived.

When I look at the photos of this photo documentary I feel most sorry for the Romanian boy, Nepalian girl, boy from Cambodia and the pregnant Brazilian girl. I feel like the tribes and nomads prefer to live close to the animals and I don't know if they were even happy to have an actual house. But said that I have to add that I do not know enough about them. Most annoyed yet worried I am about little Jamine's (age 4) lifestyle. She has participated in more than 100 beauty competitions. What does that to her mental health?

Here are some photos of Cambodian kids.

EAT Helsinki 2011

Just a quick note: EAT HELSINKI is an annual event held in Helsinki (and in Turku apparently) 16.-29.9.2011. Twenty restaurants in the Helsinki city centre are offering perfectly good meals for 10 euros. =) I go every year and of the restaurants they have this year I can recommend at least Kokomo, Santa Fe and Barcelona restaurants. :)

Love and Anarchy

There is a great film festival called Love and Anarchy going on in Helsinki. There are plenty of films that you won't see anywhere else in Finland - ever - from all over the world. The festival is held between September 15.–25. this year. I have been taking photos for them (you can see them in their blog here) and here are few of shots I took a couple of days ago.

p.s. I went to see 7 Sins Forgiven which is an Indian film. I liked it enormously (I liked the cut, the mix of English and hindi that was spoken, the leading lady and the story itself of course!).

Inspirational: People come into your life for a reason

I fully agree: there are plenty of different kind of people that will come into your life. Most of them will serve some of your needs. I think it is important to have an open heart and appreciate every friend you make, even if that friendship is not for a life. I have seen people been miserable when some of their friendships have faded or ended. Understand that friends come and go, but with a precious few you should hold on. And remember: a stranger is just a friend you have never met! ;)

Have a happy weekend, friend! =)
